Javicia Leslie's Batsuit has officially been revealed in new photos for Batwoman season 2. During the 2019-2020 television season, Batwoman became the latest series to join the CW's highly-successful Arrowverse, and its lead, Ruby Rose, was poised to play a major role in the universe. However, fans were shocked when, mere days after season 1 came to an end, Rose announced her decision to exit Batwoman. Many assumed a new actress would be cast to play Rose's character Kate Kane, but they were further surprised when Batwoman chose to go in an entirely different direction.

Instead, Batwoman season 2 (and any seasons beyond that) will focus on newcomer Ryan Wilder. Played by Javicia Leslie, Ryan is said to be the complete opposite of Kate, in that she's a little goofy, messy, and is described as "very much not your stereotypical All-American hero." Since Ryan isn't a DC Comics character, fans have no idea what to expect from her, but there's definite excitement surrounding her arrival. People have already gotten a glimpse at Leslie on set, but now they've got a new official look at her costume.

The CW has unveiled a full, detailed look at Ryan's Batsuit. It's been said that, at first, Ryan slips into Kate's old suit, but will later redesign it as she settles into her role as Batwoman and makes it her own. Fans can likely already spot the differences between the two. Check out the images down below.

The CW confirms Ryan will officially debut her Batsuit in episode 3 of Batwoman season 2, and that it sends a message to Gotham City that a brand new hero has arrived. Notable changes to her Batsuit include a new cowl with natural, curly hair, red gauntlets over her forearms, and shorter boots. Additionally, the suit itself is made with new materials, including "laser etching to create more visual depth and a stronger silhouette." Executive producer Caroline Dries described Ryan's journey as beginning from a place of "‘What can this Batsuit do for me?’," and that the changes to her Batsuit come from her embracing "everything that makes her special."

Batwoman's new Batsuit is still easily recognizable, but the little changes have done wonders in making it fit Ryan's personality. For many, Ryan is a blank slate, but this Batsuit can give fans an idea of who she'll be as a hero. It's actually rather fascinating to see how Dries and costume designer Maya Mani chose to develop Ryan's character through the ways she alters her suit. Batwoman season 2 is in the unique position of being a comic book show introducing a hero fans don't know, and they are no doubt eager to see how Dries and her writers pull it off. One thing is clear though: Ryan's got a really excellent Batsuit.
