10 Incredible Things Wizkid Did That Shocked The Nigerian Music Industry

Starboy Entertainment boss, Wizkid has now spent over a decade of active years in the game. He came into the limelight in 2009 following the release of his single Holla at your boy after penning down a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E).

In 2011, Wizkid released his debut album Superstar. The album featured singles like Tease Me Bad Guys , Don't Dull, Pakurumo and others. Fast forward to 2021, Wizkid is now one of the biggest afrobeat artists. He has worked with so many international stars and produced so many international hit songs.

10. Wizkid and Drake collaborations.

Back in 2015, when no one saw it coming, Wizkid linked up with Drake and Skepta to remix his hit song Ojuelegba. This was a defining moment in his career. The Nigerian music space was fired up to have Drake jumping on an Afrobeat tune. As if that wasn't enough, Wizkid and Drake worked on a few other songs including Come Closer and One Dance.

3. Wizkid Dolce Gabanna Runway

In June 2018, Popular international model, Naomi Campbell, and Wizkid walked the Dolce and Gabanna Runway in Milan, Italy. This was amazing news for the Nigerian music industry.

In May 2017, Wizkid defeated Jay Z, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar to win the best international artist award at the 2017 MOBO Awards.

5. Wizkid Sold Out Royal Albert Hall

In 2017, Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to headline a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall of 5,000+ capacity.

6. Wizkid Sold Out O2 Arena

Like its nothing, Wizkid attempted, headlined, and sold out the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena in 2019. This made him the first African artiste to do so.

7. Wizkid defeat Vybz Kartel

Another unbelievable thing Wizkid did was beating Vybz Kartel at the No Signal Versus in 2020. He actually gave him a 10-0 defeat.

On November 19, 2020, Wizkid and Youtube gave fans a three hours movie. The 'A Day Live With Wizkid' will forever be special to Nigerians.

Wizkid and Beyonce made magic in Lion King: The Gift album titled Brown Skin Girl. featuring Blue Ivy and Saint JHN.

10. Wizkid 'Made In Lagos'

Despite the criticisms about sounding the same in all songs, having whack lines, and not releasing danceable afrobeat songs, Wizkid went on to a 14-track Made in Lagos album that is widely accepted and celebrated across the world.
