Aston Villa drew 3-3 with Newcastle United at the Lincoln Financial Field in what was the club's first Premier League Summer Series friendly out in the USA.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for Villa on the seventh minute after some excellent work from Emi Buendia who showed a clean pair of heels to Newcastle's big-money summer signing Sandro Tonali before he laid the ball on a plate for the Villa striker to finish. Four minutes later, the Argentine doubled Villa's lead by slamming past Martin Dubravka after picking up a neat pass from Douglas Luiz off the left wing.
